One thing I love is to interview people with extraordinary talent. It truly inspires me to want to be a better version of myself and to continue on my personal journey. so I was elated when I ask Jake for the interview and he said yes.

For those of you don't know Jake he was a quarter-finalists on America's Got Talent Season 7. He is from Ozark, Missouri. He has been singing since the age of 5. and he started performing at 8. He is currently in the studio recording on his EP while balancing weekend gigs, traveling, all while being a sophomore in High School.

Here is our exclusive:

KSY:Tell us about life in Ozark, Missouri?
JWR:Life in Ozark, Missouri is wonderful! I'm a sophomore in high school. Most of the time I just try to balance school with music. I've been successful so far!

KSY:How did you get started singing at such a young age?
JWR:I started singing around age five. Something about performing just kind of felt right all along. I didn't really start performing publicly until I was eight. I then started taking classical lessons when I was thirteen.

KSY:Who are your musical influence? If you could ask one of your musical influence for advice who would it be and what would you ask?
JWR:I have many musical influences. Some of the top would be Florence + the Machine, Lady Gaga, and Fleetwood Mac. I really just enjoy good performers, and that's what I'm inspired by. If I could ask one of my influences for advice, I'd probably choose Gaga. I would really just like to pick her brain. I wouldn't let myself get away with just one question.

KSY:Where did you study theater?
JWR:I study theatre at a community theatre near me called Springfield Little Theatre. That stage has really taught me all I know about performance and how to be confident.

KSY:Tell us about your experience on AGT Season 7? why did you audition?
JWR:I auditioned for AGT on a whim. My parents and I saw the audition date online a week or two before, and just drove to St. Louis. We never expected to get that far, so it was a nice surprise when we did! I just kind of went for experience. I learned a lot through AGT, like what I need to work on to be successful. And
now I know.

KSY:How do you balance being a sophomore in H.S. and a flourish singing career and what genre of music do you sing?
JWR:Sometimes it is tough to have school and try to make a career, but I know it'll all be worth it. I mean, not many people my age know exactly what they want to do in life, and how to get it. I'm very lucky for that. So now it's just a balance. I get homework done before I sing. I don't want to fall behind in either thing.

KSY:What have you been doing since your departure with AGT?
JWR:Since being on AGT, I've been doing as many gigs as possible. I went to Chicago last weekend for some gigs, and I have a couple in the area coming up. I've also been getting in the Studio and working on an EP. I like to keep myself busy!

KSY:Tell us about this new LP you are working on?
JWR:The EP I'm working on will be a mixture of a couple older songs I've written with a few new. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have it on iTunes, and then next year release an LP! It's happening very fast.

KSY:What advice can you give to anyone who wants to follow in your footsteps?
JWR: To anyone that want to follow in my footsteps, I really just recommend to go for it. Take advantage of every single opportunity you are given. And if you're rejected, go work on it, and try again. I've been told "no" so many times that it makes being told "yes" so much better. Just don't ever stop what you love.

KSY:Describe your songwriter processing to us? Where do you want to take your music career?
JWR:I'm changing my songwriting process everyday. I'm moving into more of a pop/rock genre, instead of an "easy-listening/acoustic" vibe. I don't want to be easy to listen to. I want people to have to figure my music out, and have to listen to it more than once.

My songwriting process really varies. Sometimes I'll sit down and out comes a song, but other times it's a work in progress. My lyrics don't always come from life experiences either. Sometimes I just like to tell a story, whether it's about me or not. I'm only 15, I haven't experienced a lot yet! :)

KSY:What is next for you? Do you have any up coming events or projects we should know about?
JWR:Next for me is just getting out my EP, releasing a single, and try to make it the old fashioned way! There might be a few more surprises on the way too, and I always announce those on my Facebook page: Facebook.com/jakewesleyrogers

Thank you so much for asking me to do this!!
